Authorities make arrest in Tulum shooting

Tulum, Q.R. — Quintana Roo Police agents in Tulum have detained a youth alleged responsible for the death of another youth in the town center Sunday.

On Sunday, a 20-year-old man was shot to death on a sidewalk in broad daylight along Tulum Avenue. A lone gunman was said responsible for the 3:00 p.m. shooting in the town’s busy center. Witnesses reported the male fled the area after firing at his target several times.

Police and paramedics arrived. The young man was pronounced on scene.

In an information release, police say the detainee is accused of the crime of qualified homicide and use of a firearm. The arrested man has been identified as 18-year-old Osvaldo N originally from Chiapas. Police say upon his arrest, he was turned over to the Attorney General’s Office (FGE).
