Tulum, Q.R. — Police in the town of Tulum responded to reports of suspicious boxes left on a residential street Monday. Officers at the scene reported the boxes to contain discarded communication wiring.

Residents on Saturno Poniente Street reported the abandoned boxes next to a trash can at around 3:30 p.m. Police arrived with a sniffer dog who did not detect any illegal substances or hazardous materials. Inside the boxes police found tossed internet cables.
Residents were left on alert after an earlier shooting in the town left two injured. On Monday afternoon, two people were shot in the 2 de Octubre neighborhood. A minor boy was hit twice in an arm. An adult man was shot in the chest. Both were transferred to hospital.

State Police were at the scene of the abandoned boxes Monday on Saturno Poniente Street. Several surrounding residential streets were temporarily closed while authorities inspected them.
