Cancun, Q.R. — A man who allegedly sexually abused and murdered a female worker from the Cancun Hotel Zone was captured Thursday morning in Cancun. The State Attorney General Oscar Montes de Oca reported the arrest of José D.

He is alleged to have sexually abused and murdered the woman, leaving her body on a property at Kilometer Zero of the hotel zone. The victim, Bartola A.M., was reported missing by her family June 5, after she failed to return home from work.

In a video broadcast, Oscar Montes de Oca reported that on June 5 they received a report for the disappearance of Bartola AM, which initiated an investigation by the Specialized Prosecutor in Enforced Disappearances.

The following day, her remains were found on a property near Enrique Saviñac Avenue. Interviews and surveillance video identified José D as the person who approached her after leaving work.
