Tulum, Q.R. — A house in the Cancha Maya neighborhood that was recently seized by the state caught fire. The fire happened last night shortly before 9:00 p.m.

Tulum firemen were called to the address of the property that was found fully engulfed. Residents passing by stopped to watch as flames shot more than two stories into the air.
There are reports that that same building had been seized by local authorities for illegal activity not more than two weeks ago. The building that burned was a palapa topped home.
The fire was reported to authorities around 8:45 p.m. Monday. By the time firemen started to extinguish flames, the enter building had been devoured. A second palapa-topped building was also damaged.
Arson is being considered as a line of investigation by Civil Protection into the official cause of the fire.
