Aguakan reports PDC beach collector project on schedule for September completion

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Work continues in central Playa del Carmen with the installation of a beach collector. Aguakan, responsible for the collector, says work is progressing according to schedule.

According to the company, this current project is the second stage in strengthening the sanitation infrastructure of the city’s tourist area with modern, efficient and sustainable infrastructure.

Aguakan says this stage includes the installation of 142 linear meters of 10-inch sanitary PVC pipe and the construction of six manholes in addition to excavation in areas with water present.

“For the execution of this work, the open trench method will be implemented under a well-to-well construction system, including activities such as the layout and delimitation of the work area, the cutting and demolition of pavement, excavation and removal of cobblestones, the placement of sanitary pipe, as well as the filling and compaction work, ” said Jorge Rosas, coordinator of Works for Aguakan in Playa del Carmen.

The second stage of the Colector Playero was started April 27. To date, the company says 47 meters of new pipe has been laid.

Work is being done along 1st Avenue North between 10th and 12th Streets. Aguakan says the 2.5 million peso project is scheduled for completion in September 2026.
