Cancun, Q.R. — As part of its maintenance program, Aguakan says they will be cutting water service to most of Cancun as well as Isla Mujeres and Puerto Morelos.
The maintenance will be conducted November 6 for the water network of the municipality of Benito Juárez. The water company says service will likely be affected for several hours across the city, including the Cancun Hotel Zone. Aguakan says water service will also likely be interrupted in Isla Mujeres and Puerto Morelos.
In a statement, the company said that the work will consist of the maintenance of medium voltage power lines and the installation of flow measurement equipment, which is expected to start on Wednesday morning and conclude that evening.
The concessionaire said that this work “will result in a lack of water in a large sector of the city” that includes super blocks 01 to 32, 35 to 37, 39 to 41.43 to 52, 55 to 57, 60 to 63, 66, 67, 69 to 73, 90, 95, 97, 104, 215, 216, 222 to 227, 229 to 240, 246 to 250, 253, 254, 305, 310, 312, 313, 316 to 321, 323 a 327, 329, 330, 332, 333, 500 to 521 and 523 to 529.
Water flow is also expected to affect the Cancun Hotel Zone, Moon Palace Hotel, Centro, Alfredo Bonfil, Puerto Cancun, Punta Sam Condominiums, Playa Mujeres and Isla Mujeres.
Aguakan stressed that after the completion of work, low water pressure will be experienced for several hours for these areas due to the distance that the water travels from the catchment to homes. They add that the maintenance will optimize the provision of water for the city and provide better service.
