ADO announces new Bacalar bus station to meet growing travel demand

Bacalar, Q.R. — A new Autobuses de Oriente (ADO) bus station is earmarked for construction in the town of Bacalar. The new terminal is being built to meet an increase in travel demand.

Juan Manuel Díaz, the General Commercial Manager for ADO’s southern region says construction will begin in February or March.

Díaz says that the high travel demand in Bacalar has led to the need to build new facilities. Authorization for the construction of the new building has already been requested and obtained and work is expected to begin between February and March of this year.

The new terminal will be located on the federal highway, replacing the current terminal, which has become insufficient to serve the growing number of passengers. The modern terminal will have convenience stores and air-conditioned areas. So far, the company has not revealed the financial amount allocated for the project.

Diaz also pointed out that the travel demand for transportation will be further increased with the operation of the southern sections of the Maya Train in early 2024.
