A Most Wanted in recent Tulum murders nabbed in group arrest

Tulum, Q.R. — A Most Wanted in Quintana Roo was picked up during group arrest in Tulum Thursday. The group of six were caught dealing drugs on a dirt road in the invasion zone of Nazin.

After their arrests, police identified one of the men as a Most Wanted (priority target) in the state. On Thursday, “elements of the Investigative Police arrested six male persons in flagrante delicto for their alleged participation in acts possibly constituting drug dealing,” police reported in a statement.

“Among them is Samuel Esteban “N”, alias “El Max” and/or “El Troyano”, considered a priority target of the Crime Atlas of Quintana Roo.”

Also arrested was Felipe “N”, alias “El Barbas”, Pablo “N”, alias “Flaco”, Roque de Jesús “N”, alias “El Roque”, Irving de Jesús “N” and Alan Ricardo “N”, who were seen by police officers exchanging bags of green, dried grass with the characteristics of marijuana and white powder similar to the drug known as cocaine. During their arrests, police seized a car and a motorcycle. One loaded firearm was also located.

“These individuals were arrested on a dirt road in the invasion zone called Nazin in Tulum. Initial investigations indicate that among them are drug dealers and hitmen belonging to a criminal group known as a main generator of violence in Tulum,” the statement explained.

“Samuel Esteban “N”, alias “El Max” and/or “El Troyano”, was carrying a 9 mm caliber firearm with a loaded magazine. In addition, he has an arrest warrant for the crime of aggravated homicide against a male which occurred in the early hours of August 11, 2023,” police reported.

“He is also accused of being one of the participants in the murder of two men who were taken from a house located in the Aldea Tulum subdivision in the early hours of January 20 of this year.

“Hours later, they abandoned a dismembered body inside black bags with a cardboard and the other was left on the Tulum-Carillo Puerto highway. Both executed men were part of a shock group of a criminal gang contrary to that of Samuel Esteban “N”.

“Following the corresponding proceedings, the six detainees, along with the seized evidence, were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.”
