Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Three men arrested in Veracruz will stand trial for the murder of a Playa del Carmen woman. The men were taken into police custody earlier this month and transferred back to Quintana Roo to face charges.
Óscar Montes de Oca, who heads the State Attorney General’s office for Quintana Roo, reported that a judge has determined that the three men will stand trial for their participation in the murder of Ornella “S”, a Playa del Carmen resident from Italy.
“The defendants, Martín “P”, José “R” and Pedro “H”, were arrested in collaboration with the Veracruz State Attorney General’s Office and handed over to their counterpart in Quintana Roo, who was in charge of transferring them to the Retention Center of Solidaridad,” the FGE reported.
“The three men are allegedly related to the murder of a foreign woman that occurred in a Playa del Carmen establishment on May 30 of this year,” they agency added. Details regarding the possible part each played in the murder was not provided.
It has not been made public which of the three men in custody was the gunman or who drove the getaway car used to leave the state. Their trials are set to begin in mid-September.
