Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two men arrested in the fatal hit and run of two women over the weekend have been identified. In custody is 30-year-old Daniel “N” from Quintana Roo and 23-year-old Hermelindo “N” from Guatemala.
The pair were arrested from the car they were traveling in Saturday night after two women were struck on the federal highway outside Playa del Carmen. The women, both hotel employees, were killed. The driver of the car failed to stop.
The car that allegedly hit them was described by witnesses, which were hotel coworkers of the now-deceased women. The car was located heading north on the federal highway after police received several motorist reports of a heavily damaged car heading toward Puerto Morelos.
The vehicle was intercepted and the two males inside arrested by Solidaridad Police. Inside the car in front cup holders were two beer cans. The interior of the front was found with shattered glass from the broken windshield.
