Playa del Carmen, Q. R. — A second male believed involved in the shooting death of a Mamitas Beach Club manager in Playa del Carmen has been arrested. On Friday, the FGE of Quintana Roo reported the arrest of Luis “J” from the city of Veracruz.
The FGE says his Friday arrest was made in collaboration with the Veracruz Prosecutor’s Office and Sedena. He will be transferred back to Quintana Roo to face charges.
Luis “J” is the second person arrested who is believed involved in the deadly shooting of beach club manager Federico “M” in January of this year. In March, authorities arrested Wilber “U” for his alleged participation in the shooting.
On January 25, the Mamitas Beach Club manager was shot to death inside the bathroom of the restaurant. The restaurant’s security cameras caught the two men inside the establishment as they walked toward the bathroom with the manager.
Moments later, the pair were seen running from the bathroom toward the beach where they were successful in escaping on a waiting jet ski.
The FGE says intelligence work with the Veracruz Prosecutor’s Office made it possible to complete the arrest warrant issued against him.
