New Amado Nervo bridge connecting Nayarit with Jalisco reported 70 percent finished

Riviera Nayarit, Nayarit — A new bridge that will reduce driving time between Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta is 70 percent done. The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) says the Amado Nervo Bridge will connect Nayarit with Jalisco.

Jesús Esteva Medina who heads the SICT reported that construction of the Amado Nervo Bridge has reached a physical progress of 69.8 percent.

The new connection will reduce driving times. April 28, 2026.

The 2-kilometer-long vehicular overpass is being developed with an investment of 930 million pesos. It will benefit 480,000 residents of the region and will allow users to save 25 minutes on their journey between the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta.

Esteva Medina says the finished bridge will have two lanes in each direction, which will improve traffic flow toward the Federal Highway 200 and State Highway 544.

In addition, it will expedite the transit of vehicles originating from or destined for the metropolitan area of Puerto Vallarta and Banderas Bay.

Esteva Medina says the finished bridge is considered a priority project of the current administration since it will meet the demand of thousands of people who cross the Ameca River daily.

The SICT says the bridge is expected to be operational in July of this year. April 28, 2026.

The design includes 20 spans of 40 meters each. It consists of 800 meters of structure and 1,220 meters of access roads; of these, 364 meters are in Nayarit and 856 meters are located in Jalisco.

Construction began in July 2025 and is expected to be completed in July 2026, generating 2,700 jobs.

Once operational, the new bridge is projected to have an average annual daily traffic volume of between 20,000 and 21,000 vehicles.
