National Guard assist State Police in dismantling federal highway road block after authorities announce no more

Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — National Guard and State Police were sent in to dismantle a group of residents blocking the federal highway. Authorities clashed with the group of Nicolás Bravo residents Friday night who were protesting recently laid charges against a local man.

The man, Clemente “N”, has been charged in the murder of a male nurse. The pair had been friends more than a decade. The nurse, identified as Ramiro “N”, was reported missing on April 13. His body was found April 18 during a foot search. His longtime friend Clemente “N” was arrested and charged.

On Friday night, residents protested the charges with a federal highway roadblock. Traffic was at a standstill in both directions. National Guard and State Police were sent in to break up the roadblock and remove residents from the highway. They were sent in after state officials announced earlier this week that roadblocks by protestors will no longer be tolerated.

The Friday night protesters were family members of Clemente “N” who claim that his arrest was illegal and that he was subjected to torture and threats to force him to sign a confession. It was the second time in a week that the same family blocked the federal highway in protest of the arrest.
