Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The suspect in the recent killing of two men inside a Playa del Carmen barbershop is now under investigation for other murders. The man identified as Jonathan “N” was arrested the same day as two men were shot to death inside a central PDC barbershop that also left four customers wounded.
State officials have reported charges were laid against Jonathan “N” Friday for the murder of two and attempted murder of four in the August 9 barbershop shooting. They also say he is now being investigated for his possible involvement in the murders of four men found along a Cancun highway earlier this month, adding that an arrest warrant had been issued.
On August 1, police responding to motorist reports of a dead man laying on the side of the federal highway outside Cancun arrived to find four dead men. All four had been shot to death. One of the deceased was an active municipal police officer.
They are now investigating Jonathan “N” for his possible involvement since the recent murders in both cities involved criminal gang members. “The first lines of investigation indicate that this event would be related to human trafficking and a settling of scores between members of criminal groups,” the State Attorney General (FGE) said regarding the four Cancun murders.
The Playa del Carmen barbershop shootings are also believed to be criminal gang related. “Initial investigations indicate that two hitmen who arrived at the establishment on a motorcycle headed towards Bruno Edén “N”, identified as a member of the criminal group “Los Zuri”,” the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) reported last week.
In a statement Saturday, the FGE said “Jonathan “N”, who allegedly, along with another subject, entered a barbershop located on Constituyentes Avenue on August 9 of this year, where they fired firearms, killing two men, in addition to injuring four more people.
“This is the second time that Jonathan “N” has been brought to trial after recently being charged with drug dealing. In addition, according to preliminary investigations, he could also be involved in the murder of four people which occurred on the Cancun highway for which he has an arrest warrant.”
