López Obrador appoints Miguel Ángel Maciel Torres as Secretary of Energy

Mexico City, Mexico — President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has appointed Miguel Ángel Maciel Torres as the new Secretary of Energy. Maciel Torres served in the Department as Undersecretary of Hydrocarbons before the appointment.

“He has all our confidence for his honesty and proven convictions in favor of national sovereignty,” the President said in a statement.

For 30 years Maciel Torres has collaborated in Pemex Exploration and Production and two years in the Corporate Directorate of Alliances and New Businesses of Petróleos Mexicanos.

López Obrador appointed Miguel Ángel Maciel Torres as the new Secretary of Energy after the sudden resignation of his predecessor Rocío Nahle García last week.
