Judge agrees to extortion charges against all three related to Puerto Aventuras City Hall

Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — Three people arrested last week on extortion accusations involving the Puerto Aventuras City Hall have been charged. Those charged allegedly demanded payments, under threat, from a businesswoman in Puerto Aventuras.

The State Attorney General reported on Friday that formal charges against Gilberto “N”, Jorge “N” and Karla Paola “N” have been filed for aggravated extortion.

According to their investigations, the events occurred at the beginning of this year in the town of Puerto Aventuras where the victim had a business located in the Puerto Maya neighborhood.

“On January 19, 2026, the victim went to see Karla Paola “N”, who allegedly asked her to fill out documentation and make a payment, under the warning that, if she did not do so, her belongings would be taken,” they said in a statement.

“Subsequently, on February 6, Jorge “N”, accompanied by other people, allegedly went to the victim’s establishment and, probably on the instructions of Gilberto “N”, threatened her to report to Karla Paola “N”, warning her that, if she did not do so, they would return to attack her.

“On February 11 of that same year, the victim went back to Karla Paola “N” and handed over the money she had demanded. According to the investigation, the document they asked her to fill out was free, but they led her to believe that it would provide her with protection as long as Gilberto “N” remained in his position.

“Furthermore, on May 7, 2026, Jorge “N”, accompanied by two other individuals, allegedly demanded weekly payments from the victim, threatening to remove her from the premises and physically assault her. According to the investigation file, the victim began making regular payments,” the FGE reported according to their investigation.
