Holbox, Q.R. — A boutique hotel on the island of Holbox has reclosed its doors after only two days of reopening. The Posada Mawimbi hotel, which is located on the island, made the social media announcement of its decision to shut its doors after experiencing how many fail to respect local health protocols.
The hotel says they made the decision to close again to take care of the health of their staff and that of potential clients. Through a social media statement, Posada Mawimbi reported that it will close after two days of reopening its doors to the public due to the contagion.
The hotel says they decided to close after seeing how many people do not take the preventative health measures seriously to prevent further Covid-19 infections. They said the decision to close is to protect their staff and future clients.
The hotel did not provide a possible reopening date. The island, which remained Covid-19 free, reported 30 cases and one death within a week of reopening.
