Bacalar, Q.R. — Disgruntled citizens have reported Sedena for ignoring a court-ordered halt to their lagoon shore project. On Wednesday, heavy machinery was in full operation with the continuance of their building project.

The reports were made by the Citizen and Scientific Council for the Restoration and Preservation of Bacalar and the non-governmental organization Defending the Right to a Healthy Environment.
They have reported the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) resumed construction Wednesday, ignoring the suspension order issued by a federal judge.
On its social media, the Citizen and Scientific Council posted that “they are back at work on the Sedena project,” with images taken Wednesday showing the removal of the planks blocking access to the site and heavy machinery inside.

Over the weekend, a group of residents won the temporary suspension of the project. The group were awarded a provisional injunction (241-2025) that temporarily suspended the construction being carried out by the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena).
