Cancun, Q.R. — A former police officer with the city of Cancun has been formally charged with human trafficking. The State Attorney of the Republic (FGR) reported prosecuting five people, including a former Quintana Roo public servant, for alleged human trafficking.
“For their possible participation in the crime of organized crime with the purpose of committing human trafficking, the FGR (Fiscalía General de la República) obtained a formal indictment against Jumilca “N”, Erik “N”, Eva “N”, Reyna “N” and Ernesto “N”,” they reported Monday.

“The investigation by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO), which began in 2025, indicates that these individuals possibly belong to a human trafficking network that operated from Chiapas, on the border of Mexico with Guatemala, Chihuahua, and on the border with the United States,” they added in a statement.
A few days ago, with search warrants, the FGR carried out operations in which personnel from the Mexican Navy (Marina) and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) participated to carry out the investigation techniques in three properties located in the states of Chiapas and Quintana Roo.
As a result of the searches, they secured live cartridges, a long gun, passports, identifications, credit cards and various amounts of cash. All five were also arrested.
According to the FGR, all three remain in custody. The men have been entered into CERESO No. 3 and the women at CERESO Femenil No. 2, in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua.
Erik “N”, who was part of the arrests and subsequently charged with human trafficking, was the former head of the Cancun Tourist Police. He was taken into custody last month during a drug-related federal search operation.

In March of 2026, Cancun Mayor Ana Paty Peralta, swore in Ulises Adrián Martínez Monzón as the new Director of the Tourist Police of the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit. He still holds that position.
