Cozumel, Q.R. — On Wednesday, Cozumel received two cruise ships, Celebrity Edge and Adventure of the Seas, making it the first port to do so in Latin America since the start of the pandemic.
Mayor Pedro Joaquín Delbouis welcomed the arriving passengers, which totaled more than 2,200, and one of the ship’s Captains Kate McCue. “Cozumel is the preferred place for cruise companies and tourists,” said Celebrity Cruises authorities.
Adventure of the seas from Royal Caribbean, who also docked, are part of the 24 cruises that will arrive on the island between the months of June and July. Health officials were on site to ensure sanitary protocols.
The ship docked at Cozumel after spending a day docked at Mahahual in Costa Maya.
