Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Civil Protection says a fire they have been battling is finally contained in west Playa del Carmen. The fire has been burning in the area of CTM and Lilis Avenues for nearly two weeks.

According to authorities, it has been completely contained, thanks to efforts by Civil Protection and Firefighters and is one of three fires fought in the last 10 days.
“The Playa del Carmen government reports that the fire in the area of CTM and Lilis Avenues has been completely contained thanks to the timely intervention of the Secretariat of Civil Protection, Risk Prevention, and Firefighters.
“This is the result of the coordinated and professional work of our firefighters who acted quickly to prevent the flames from spreading to inhabited areas, protecting the lives and property of Playa del Carmen families.

“In the last 10 days, six fires have been responded to and extinguished in the same area, affecting a total of 330 square meters of vegetation. These actions reaffirm the municipal government’s commitment to risk prevention and immediate emergency response.

“Authorities urges citizens to avoid activities that can cause fires, such as agricultural burning, bonfires, or throwing lit cigarette butts in forested areas. The safety and well-being of Playa del Carmen residents is our priority. If you detect smoke, fire, or any other risk, call 911 immediately. Acting in time can make a difference,” Protección Civil, Prevención de Riesgos y Bomberos de Playa del Carmen reported.
