Arrest of man with gun still made after responding officers hit woman on scooter

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man who was reported to emergency service for firing a shot gun Wednesday was arrested. The man identified as 44-year-old Said N, was handcuffed in the town of Nuevo Noh Bec in the municipality of Solidaridad.

He was transferred to the back of a Municipal Police unit after they were directed by residents who lead police to a dirt road where they located the man walking with a firearm.

Although he attempted to flee on foot, Said N was intercepted and arrested. Police also seized his loaded shotgun and extra ammo.

On Wednesday afternoon, police responding to the initial call of shots fired in Nuevo Noh Bec hit a woman on a scooter. The head on impact caused the woman’s right leg to be amputated at the knee during the accident.
