Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A man who intended to shoot a journalist while at his home, has been arrested. The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office reported the formal arrest of Fredy A who has since been charged with attempted murder.
On the night of February 1, Fredy A arrived at the home of a local reporter. When the man answered the door, Fredy A pointed a gun at him. The man began a struggle for the gun while yelling for help from neighbors.
Area residents responded by subduing the gunman, who they held until police arrived. The gunman was taken to hospital by an ambulance for injuries sustained during the struggle.
The FGE reported that Fredy A was accompanied by a second man, who was successful in escaping.
