Yucatan passenger bus inspection intercepts drug shipment bound for Quintana Roo

Halachó, Yucatan — Two people were arrested and 21 kilos of narcotics seized during a passenger bus check stop this week. The two men arrested were found transporting 21 kilos of methamphetamine to Quintana Roo.

The passenger bus was stopped in the town of Halachó, Yucatan where members of the National Guard inspected the baggage. During their inspection, they found the narcotics.

The Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico reported on the finding Wednesday through a Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) press release.

“In Halachó, Yucatan, members of the National Guard, Mexican Army, Navy and State Police, while inspecting a bus bound for Quintana Roo, arrested two people and seized 21 kilos of methamphetamine,” the SSPC said in a briefing on the check stop.

According to their statement, the drugs bound for the state of Quintana Roo had a value of 5.6 million pesos. Authorities did not identify the two men arrested.
