Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Solidaridad police took a man into custody Monday on reports of animal abuse. Neighbors in Cristo Rey reported the man after he was seen hitting a dog with a machete.
The dog, a homeless Pitbull, was hit several times in his back with the blade. The dog was transferred for veterinarian care and treated for the cuts.
On Monday, the Seguridad Pública of Solidaridad reported “Municipal Police arrested a subject for the possible crime of animal abuse, accused of allegedly attacking a dog in the Cristo Rey neighborhood.
“Elements of the Preventive Police were walking along Avenida de la Perseverancia and Avenida del Carmen when a person asked them for help. After interviewing the citizen, he pointed out that a man, since identified as Gabino “N”, had allegedly beaten and attacked a dog with a weapon.”
The man, 53-year-old Gabino “N” from Yucatan, was secured and placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office. The dog received care from the Solidaridad Animal Control, Assistance and Zoonosis Center.
