Youth taken to hospital stable after near drowning off Playa del Carmen beach

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen lifeguards pulled a young man from the sea in a near drowning incident. Marina personnel provided CPR to a youth they pulled from the sea after he was swept out into deep water.

An ambulance rushed the young man to hospital Saturday after the rescue off a Playacar beach earlier that morning. The unidentified male is reported to be a tourist and was transported to hospital in stable condition.

State Civil Protection announced an increase in lifeguards along Quintana Roo beaches for the Easter holidays. State officials have said 1.2 million visitors are expected to vacation in the state during Easter 2024.
