Youth arrested after shooting Playa del Carmen woman over unpaid floor rights

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Quintana Roo Police have arrested a youth alleged responsible for the shooting death of a woman over the weekend. On Saturday, a woman in Villamar I was shot and killed by a male who witnesses said, fled on a bicycle.

Witnesses to the shooting told police that the woman, who was a business owner, was approached by the lone male before being shot. Police arrived and began a search for the man using the city’s C5 security cameras.

The youth was located hiding nearby in brush. A gun believed to be the weapon used in the killing was also located. On social media, the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública de Quintana Roo said the shooting appears to be related to an unpaid floor right debt to a Colombian group. The deceased woman, who has not bee identified, sold fresh chickens for a living.
