Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — One woman was killed early Monday after her compact car rolled and collided with a bus. The accident happened shortly after midnight Monday on a stretch of highway between the two Riviera Maya towns of Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
The female driver of the car was traveling toward Tulum when she lost control. The compact vehicle reportedly rolled several times before slamming into the windshield of an oncoming bus.
Emergency personnel responding to the report of the accident arrived to find the car completely destroyed. The 24-year-old female driver, who was still inside the car, was pronounced on scene. Solidaridad police and firemen were on scene while the National Guard blocked a section of the highway.
