Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A young Playa del Carmen woman has died after being hit by a city combi while on her bicycle. The unnamed woman was hit by the public transport unit near Colosio and 40th Street Tuesday evening. She died from her injuries early Wednesday.
According to preliminary information, she was attempting to ride her bike across the busy street when she crossed the path of a large bus. The driver of the bus was able to avoid hitting her, however, the combi behind the bus did not.
The driver of the public transport van was unable to avoid colliding with the woman. An ambulance rushed her to a Playa del Carmen hospital where she is reported to have died during the early hours of Wednesday.
