Bacalar, Q.R. — A young girl was killed in a highway bus accident in the municipality of Bacalar over the weekend. The passenger bus was traveling between the towns of between Pedro A. Santos and Cafetal when the accident happened.
Municipal authorities arrived at the Sunday morning scene where they located the badly damaged bus in the ditch. The front end was smashed inward and nealy all the windows broken.
They found the deceased body of a 13 year old girl in the wreckage. She was traveling with her 17-year-old brother who suffered only minor injuries. Firemen and paramedics treated 22 other bus passengers.
Emergency services from the municipality of Bacalar responded to motorists reports of the accident which is reported to have been due to driver error.
