Bacalar, Q.R. — A Bacalar resident visiting the Lagoon early Wednesday morning saw a floating body. The body was seen floating in the water near a lagoon hotel. It was around 6:50 a.m. when authorities were notified of the sighting.
Elements of the Municipal Police arrived to corroborate the report. Upon arrival they saw the body floating about 10 meters from the lagoon shore. Firemen were requested to remove the body from the water.
When brought to shore, authorities learned it was a woman. She was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service of Chetumal for an autopsy to determine her identification and the official cause of death.
