Woman who killed young mother to steal unborn baby arrested in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A woman who allegedly murdered a pregnant minor to steal her unborn baby has been arrested. The State Attorney General reports the arrest of Juanita C for homicide.

Her arrest is the result of an investigation after charred human remains were reported found in plastic bags in the Villas Riviera subdivision of Playa del Carmen last week. Through a statement, the office reported that Investigative Police officers captured Juanita C for the crime of homicide to the detriment of a minor victim of reserved identity.

The events occurred on May 30, where through an emergency telephone number, ministerial authorities received the report of the discovery of human remains with indications of first, second and third degree burns wrapped in plastic bags.

After an expert survey of the remains, the investigation determined that the deceased person corresponded to a woman who presented biological signs of a pregnancy. Mobile surveillance lead them to Juinata C, who, during her police interview, “entered into various contradictions.”

The now accused is alleged to have deceitfully lured the minor pregnant woman to her home with the purpose of taking her life to keep her unborn baby. The young mother was stabbed to death. The child, a boy, was removed from the mother and taken to hospital by Juanita C. Doctors were able to stabilize the baby who arrived in critical condition.

The FGE says that the arrest of Juanita C was carried out with a warrant in her home located in the Villas Riviera subdivision.
