Costa Maya, Q.R. — A mother of one died over the weekend after being involved in a roadway accident. The woman was traveling with her partner and young son when their motorcycle was hit by pickup.
Personnel from the National Emergency Commission of Ribera del Río Hondo responded to the highway accident that happened near the community of Cacao. The man and minor boy were treated before being transferred to a Chetumal hospital. The woman was pronounced on scene.
The driver of the green Ranger that hit the motorcycle fled the scene. Police were successful in locating the truck abandoned on a resident street. Authorities said that after the discovery of the truck, the driver voluntarily turned himself in. There was no word on charges.
