Woman killed in Playa del Carmen after being run over by bus

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A woman was killed in Playa del Carmen Friday after being run over by a bus. The accident happened at the intersection of Luis Donaldo Colosio and 115 Avenue Friday afternoon.

Police and medical personnel responded to the 2:15 p.m. report of a woman being run over by a bus. According to preliminary reports, the driver of the bus was making a left turn when it collided with a motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle was thrown from the bike and under the bus where she was run over by a front tire. By the time paramedics arrived, the woman had died. The dead woman was identified as 32-year-old N.C.C. originally from Mexico City.

Paramedics responding to the accident placed a blanket over the body until the medical examiner arrived at 2:45 p.m. The driver of the bus was detained by police. There was no word if charges would be laid.

On April 23, a driver from the same bus company crashed into the base of a Cancun overpass shearing off nearly half of the side of his bus. In that accident, the driver lost part of his left leg.
