Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur — A woman was killed after a jet ski slammed into the outdoor patio of a beachside restaurant in Cabo San Lucas. The watercraft, which was being driven by a tourist, suddenly appeared on the beach where its momentum carried it forward into a crowd of restaurant goers on Playa Médano Friday.
The runaway jet ski was caught on restaurant video as it quickly made its way to shore where it hit a female beach vendor. Although there were attempts to revive her, she died on scene.
Reports say the tourist who had rented the jet ski was traveling at full speed when he lost control and fell into the water. The watercraft carried forward without him, slamming into the crowded restaurant patio. Two others were injured.
The restaurant, Mango Deck Beach Club, released a statement saying they regret the accident and the sad loss of life.
