Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Municipal Police attending to the crash of a pickup truck outside Playa del Carmen arrived to find one dead woman. The driver, who was said to be transporting four others from a party, hit a trailer near the southern police filter.
Three people from inside the cab of the Toyota truck were transferred to hospital with varying injuries, while one woman was pronounced dead on scene. Assistance from Playa del Carmen firemen was requested to remove the passengers from inside the cab.
The impact from the hit left the truck’s cab completely smashed in and those inside, trapped. Firemen had to use the jaws of life to free them. The deceased woman was the front seat passenger.
The driver of the pickup was treated for minor injuries on site and arrested for manslaughter. His three passengers were taken to hospital by ambulance.
