Tapachula, Chiapas — A woman alleged to have stolen a newborn baby from a Chiapas hospital has been arrested. The incident happened Tueaday when 19-year-old Karla N gave birth at an IMSS in Tapachula.
On Tuesday, the baby was reported missing by its mother who was still in hospital after giving birth on Monday. A review of hospital security cameras showed an unidentified woman leaving the IMSS hospital in Tapachula with the newborn.
According to the director of the Mexican Institute of Social Security, Zoé Robledo, the baby has been recovered and the woman arrested. They were discovered in a home in the Raymundo Enríquez Ejido in the municipality of Tapachula.
The woman, identified as Rosalía Vianney N by police, was taken into custody for abduction of the newborn. However, State Governor Governor Rutilio Escandón identified the detainee as Yeni Fernanda N.
