Cancun, Q.R. — A new McAllen, Texas to Cancun route is scheduled to begin operating in July. Volaris has announced the start of the new route as of July 3, 2024.
Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa confirmed the announcement of the new McAllen-Cancún air route that will begin with two weekly flights. The new flights “will allow visitors to experience the New Era of Tourism in Quintana Roo,” Lezama said in a statement Wednesday.
The new route adds to the air connectivity of more than 40 cities in the United States that the Cancun International Airport has, which last year, received more than 32.7 million visitors, she added.
According to Volaris, this new route will be offered Wednesdays and Saturdays, leaving Cancun at 12:15 p.m. and returning from McAllen in the afternoon around 4:05 p.m.
“McAllen to Cancun promises to be a direct bridge that will not only facilitate cultural and tourist exchange between Quintana Roo and the United States, but will also strengthen the local economy to advance shared prosperity based on tourism success,” she said.
