Costa Maya, Q.R. — Two women were killed Thursday night while traveling a section of Costa Maya highway. The women were riding a motorcycle when the driver lost control and began to skid.
Passing motorists on the Mahahual-Cafetal highway called 9-1-1 after seeing two people laying on the road next to a motorcycle. Paramedics rushed to the scene where they proceeded to pronounce both dead.
The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved. The women were riding the highway in the rain after a red alert was issued ahead of the arrival of Hurricane Beryl. Both are reported to have been members of a local motorcycle club.
