Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police responding to a two vehicle crash on Friday afternoon arrived to a metal mess, but no human injuries. The accident was reported around 4:00 p.m. on of the last day of the year outside Punta Maroma.
One of the vehicles, a passenger van, was traveling at excessive speed when the driver lost control on a curve and swerved, which caused him to make contact with another vehicle. That vehicle, a private van, was sent crashing into the highway’s central median.
The van that allegedly caused the accident had the entire front of his vehicle pushed inward, however, both vehicles received substantial damage from the accident. Police were assisted by the National Guard and firemen in dealing with the crash. Tow trucks eventually removed them from the highway.
