Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Paramedics transferred three to hospital after two truck crash outside Playa del Carmen Friday. The collision happened on a section of the Playa del Carmen-Tulum highway just south of the city.
According to preliminary information, both trucks collided after one attempted to pass another vehicle. While pulling out of the lane to make the pass, the second truck, which was travelling at high speed, appeared and the two collided.
Both drivers were heading to Tulum at the time of the crash. Police and medical personnel responded to the 2:00 p.m. request for assistance, arriving to find three people aboard the two units.
Both trucks were heavily damaged. One was found on its roof in highway overgrowth. Two people from inside the red pickup and one from inside the white truck were transferred to Playa del Carmen hospital.
