Two taken into custody for posing as officers in PDC traffic

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two men posing as police officers have been jailed in Playa del Carmen. The pair were jailed on Monday after being pulled over when officers saw them weaving through city traffic in a private vehicle with activated blue and red lights.

Municipal police witnessed their Fusian car posing as an official unit while driving along Juárez Avenue. Once stopped, the two men inside the vehicle allegedly told officers they were police, however, a review of their identification did not show them as active police members.

Guillermo “N”, 35 from the state of Quintana Roo and Iván “N”, 28 and originally from Yucatán, were taken into custody. During a search of their vehicle, police also located a replica handgun.
