Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Three people in Playa del Carmen were hit by a spray of bullets let loose by armed men Thursday night. The gunmen who opened fire in what is believed to have been a targeted shooting, fled before police arrived.
Solidaridad officers were requested on 15th Avenue in the Nicte Ha neighborhood around 8:20 p.m. in response to the shooting. Two of the three hit were reported to be in serious condition in hospital.
Witnesses watched as armed men intercepted the trio who were on foot walking to a convenience store. Municipal Police officers cordoned off the area and deployed a search operation for those responsible but without success.
Witnesses say at least seven shots were fired by an armed man from the back of a motorcycle that then sped off.
