Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two people were pronounced dead at the scene of a fatal highway accident Sunday. The pair were riding a motorcycle on a section of El Tintal highway west of the city of Playa del Carmen when the driver appears to have skidded.

Motorists who came upon the accident scene called emergency services. Police sectioned off the highway after paramedics confirmed both riders had died.
The motorcycle is believed to have been the only vehicle involved in the accident. It was located against a cement guard rail more than a dozen meters from where the bodies were found. Speed is being factored into, what has been reported, as a single vehicle accident.
The names of the deceased have not been released.
