Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two Israeli nationals were arrested by Solidaridad police over the weekend. The pair were taken into legal custody from a highway police filter in the municipality of Solidaridad Saturday.
According to the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC), the man and woman were arrested after being found in possession of narcotics. Their vehicle was searched at the police filter between Playa del Carmen and Cancun. Police reported finding 20 street doses of drugs during the search.
In a breif statement, the SSC (Seguridad Ciudadana Solidaridad) said “the Municipal Citizen Security Secretariat arrested two Israeli citizens in possession of 20 doses of possible narcotics at Police Checkpoint Number 1 on the Playa del Carmen-Cancún highway.
“They are a female named Shira “N”, 29 years old, and a male named Daniel “N”, 30 years old, who were placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office for alleged drug related crimes.”
Police have not said if the pair are tourists or local residents.
