Two injured in attack against facade of Playa del Carmen bar

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two people were taken to hospital Sunday night after an attack against the facade of a Playa del Carmen bar. Emergency services were at the scene in west PDC near a shopping mall in response to reports.

A man and woman were hit by the bullets during the 9:30 p.m. attack. One person is believed to have been a bar employee while the other, a bar patron. Shoppers inside the mall hear the gunfire and made the 9-1-1 report.

Police arrived at the establishment on 115th Avenue where armed individuals had opened fire against the bar. The two hit people were transferred to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police launched a search operation for those responsible, however, no arrests have been reported. In a statement, authorities confirmed that investigations are continuing to clarify the motives and circumstances of the attack.
