Riviera Maya, Q.R. — A group of gang members accused of killing three people have been captured by police. Authorities say two of the five captured are from the state of Quintana Roo.
All five have been arrested for the murder of three people in the neighboring state of Yucatan. According to Yucatan authroties, all five were tracked down for the January 5, 2026 shooting deaths of three adults in the municipality of Dzilam González, a community approximately 90 kilometers northeast of Merida.
“Investigative agents from the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and with the support of federal forces, executed an arrest warrant against five individuals for their alleged involvement in the crimes of aggravated homicide committed by a gang and attempted aggravated homicide,” SSP Yucatan reported in a statement.
“The individuals arrested are 63 year old Luis Antonio “N” from Chiapas, 34 year old Alfredo “N” from Ticul, Yucatán, 32 year old Verónica Rubí “N” from Chetumal, Quintana Roo, 34 year old Carlos Alberto “N” from Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz and 27 year old Keny Elías “N” from Cancun, Quintana Roo.

“According to evidence gathered by investigating agents and prosecutors, the events occurred on January 5, 2026, between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m., at a property in the municipality of Dzilam González, where several people were gathered.
“Two individuals arrived at the location on a motorcycle and allegedly fired repeatedly at the victims. As a result of the attack, J. C. V. G. and A. A. R. K. died at the scene. L. F. K. T. was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. A minor was injured but survived.
“The causes of death were determined by forensic medical examiners from the State Attorney General’s Office. The investigation established a pattern of planning and prior coordination of the attack, which allowed for the identification of the likely perpetrators and provided grounds for the corresponding arrest warrants,” the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP) Yucatan detailed.
“This result is the product of a thorough investigation, fieldwork, information analysis, and institutional coordination, all aimed at clarifying the facts and bringing those allegedly involved to justice.
“The five individuals were located, apprehended, and placed at the disposal of the Judge of Control who issued the warrants. In Yucatán, those who come to commit crimes will not go unpunished: we will find them wherever they are.”
Police say all five people arrested are facing charges of triple homicide and attempted aggravated homicide.
