Two ferry companies announce temporary suspension of services due to upcoming storm

Cancun, Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Due to the proximity of Tropical Storm Zeta, two ferry companies have announced the temporary suspension of all services. In a press release, the general director of the Port Administration of Quintana Roo, Alicia Ricalde Magaña, reported that both Winjet and Transcaribe have began the process of ensuring the safety of their vessels as the storm approaches.

She said “this implies that on October 26, there will be no service by Winjet in the passenger area, while on October 25, the cargo route by Transcaribe is canceled starting 5:00 p.m. from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen and vice versa.”

“With the tropical storm, the sea conditions represent a risk to navigation, the integrity of the vessels and the crew,” she added.

The ferry companies say they will offer services again on October 28, or when weather conditions allow it.
