Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The Attorney General of the State of Quintana Roo reports the arrests of Jesus N and Luis N in the municipality of Solidaridad for alleged kidnapping.
Police report that a construction worker identified as J.E.R.L. was forced into a taxi at gunpoint by one of the two detained men. Under duress, J.E.R.L. got into the taxi where he was driven to a different location where there was a private vehicle waiting.
After several extortion calls by Jesus N and Luis N to the victim’s boss, they agreed to a sum of money for his release. When the victim was sent to collect the cash, he called ministerial authorities who set up an operation to catch the two alleged kidnappers.
Police were on hand when the victim met with his kidnappers and handed over his ransom. Both Jesus N and Luis N were arrested with the cash in hand. The kidnapping victim, J.E.R.L, was secured by police and released unharmed.
Both Jesus N and Luis N are being held in custody for legal proceedings.
