Cozumel, Q.R. — Grupo Aereo Monterrey S.A. de C.V., known commercially as Magnicharters, has resumed its Monterrey to Cozumel flights. On Saturday, the first Boeing 737 carrying 137 passengers arrived on the island from its capital city in the state of Nuevo León.
It was the first flight of the company’s summer schedule to Cozumel. The plane was welcomed with the traditional water salute as it taxied down the runway, marking the reopening of the route.
Magnicharters will offer the flight twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from July 2 to August 20. It will depart the Monterrey International Airport at 7:30 a.m. and arrive Cozumel at 9:40 a.m.
On Saturday, the inaugural flight of VivaAerobus also landed at Cozumel International from the city of Monterrey. The airline is the second to resume the Monterrey to Cozumel flights for the summer season. The plane landed at 4:05 p.m. with 175 passengers. Flights with VivaAerobus will continue into the month of August.
On social media, Governor Carlos Joaquin posted “We welcome the new Monterrey-Cozumel summer route of VivaAerobus. Two weekly flights, which reinforce the connection of the northern sultana with our island of Cozumel. Welcome!”
